How are you? I hope you’re doing well as we finally shift into weather that feels like fall! As I sit at my desk in the loft at home, I can hear the wind through the trees outside. I do love that sound. Remember last year? We already had 7 inches of snow by now! As you know, I love this season in Minnesota. Cool frosty mornings and crisp sunny afternoons. Good clothes-wearing weather! I happen to have a vested interest in the cooler temps, as Brightwater is stocked and ready for sweater weather! I think I’ve got one on the best inventories of sweaters for fall and winter that I’ve had in years. From cozy cashmere pieces from White + Warren, Kokun, and Kinross, to classics from Dale of Norway, Barbour and Alan Paine. They do look good!
I had hoped to be writing this from the kitchen table up at the Cottage. Yet, sometimes the world has different plans. I guess we’ve all had to learn to pivot in the last few years. It’s actually been nice being here. A staycation of sorts. I’ve been able to concentrate on getting orders for spring and summer '22 wrapped up, and I've had time to focus on stocking the ”gear” that makes holiday shopping at Brightwater Clothing & Gear so much fun! I’ve also spent a little time in the shop working with my newish helper Kate, getting the fresh merchandise priced and out on display. It's looking great! On the guys side there're new arrivals from Filson, Gitman Vintage, Billy Reid and Barbour. On the women’s side there’s new Kari Traa, Bellerose (from Belgium), and Falke of Germany, a line I’m super excited to introduce! If you are out and about this weekend, please swing by, say, “Hi,” and take a peruse about. I think you’ll be as pleased as I am with the offerings!
Another reason to swing in to Excelsior is that the construction on Water Street is finally done and it’s looking terrific! A shout out to the City of Excelsior and those who worked hard to see complete this project. I’d also like to remind you that next Saturday, October 30th, the Excelsior-Lake Minnetonka Chamber of Commerce will be hosting Trick O’ Treating, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in participating shops and businesses on Water Street. You can bet we’re participating! It’s so much fun to see all the ghosts, goblins, and costumed little ones come through the doors! You ought to swing into Excelsior that Saturday just to see all the smiles! And yes, we’ll happily share a treat with you too!
Have a good, safe weekend. The next few days are looking to be that perfect fall weather, so grab your favorite sweater, and get out for a walk! As always, I’d love to see you, so swing by Brightwater when you can!
Be safe, be kind. Be good to one another.
Lots of love,
- Bill
