Spring has sprung at Brightwater!

Saylorsburg, Penn + NY Women's Market for Fall '23

Surviving the snowstorm? I’m sitting at the table at my friend Tim’s house outside of Saylorsburg, PA. Tim and I both went to Macalester about a thousand years ago. Together we moved to Vail about two weeks after graduation. Tim didn’t know how to ski. He learned fast! I’m grateful for our longtime friendship!

We had planned this chance to get together to spend time at his country house a month or so ago.  (His primary home is on Roosevelt Island, in the East River between Manhattan and Queens, NY.) The initial plan was to go skiing for a day at one of the ski resorts here in the Poconos. Unlike Minnesota, this area hasn’t seen virtually any snow this winter, so when we looked at the resort cams, we decided the rocky ribbons of man-made snow didn’t have any appeal. Instead we’ve had fun exploring the surrounding area and spending time hanging out together. It’s been great! If you ever get here, check out the town of Jim Thorpe, PA. It's a very old, beautiful town created by coal mining back in the 1800’s. So pretty!

We flew into NYC on Sunday for the Women’s Fall '23 market. We had appointments at showrooms, attended different shows, and found a great selection of sportswear, sweaters, and outerwear for next fall!  For me, it’s like looking for a needle in a haystack, as I work to find just the right pieces for Brightwater. There’s a lot of clothing being sold that isn’t right for Brightwater. It's the hunt that I enjoy and I’m excited to share my collection next fall! Going to market is a lot of work, but we also get to have a lot of fun! We dined at one of our favorite restaurants, Buvette, in Greenwich Village and revisited a great Italian restaurant, Barbuto, in the West Village. Once again we stayed at the Hugo Hotel at Spring and Greenwich. We love that it's close to the Ear Inn, a true NYC dive bar!

Time to wrap this up! If all still goes as planned, we'll catch an evening flight home. Fingers are crossed! Delta says we are still a go!

I’ll either be back in the shop tomorrow, or still hanging out with Tim! Either way is perfect! The shop was closed again today, but will be open tomorrow. We’ve still got some great sales on Brightwater’s collection of cashmere sweaters, parkas and coats. Once you’ve dug out, swing in and say ”Hi.” Next week begins the switch towards spring offerings at Brightwater, so come come by to some of the newness next week!  I’m looking forward to seeing you!

As always, stay safe. Be kind and be helpful!

Lots of Love,
- Bill
