It seems that summer may be sliding away, as the thermometer said 49F this morning. It’s alway a little bittersweet. There were too many things on my summer list that I didn’t get to. It seemed to evaporate this year. Yet, I also can’t help but celebrate the arrival of fall. I love these cool mornings, crisp air, combined with the brilliant colors of the trees. I’m going to make time to get out and enjoy it!
We returned Monday night from the Spring/Summer Markets in NYC. It felt much more like summer there! Hot and muggy. We saw some great lines, both new and known! Now comes the hard part of selecting what’s right for Brightwater’s Summer '23 offerings. But that’s what I enjoy —deciding what’s worthy of Brightwater! We managed to have a little fun too! We stayed (again) at the Hotel Hugo in Soho. The location at Spring & Greenwich is great. We ate great pizza at Coco Pazzo Trattoria on Spring St., enjoyed tapas with an old college friend and his wife at Boqueria in Soho, and hit a favorite, Buvette, on Grove St. in Greenwich Village. It wouldn’t be complete with out a nightcap at the Ear Inn. It opened in 1817 and it’s a cool spot. We also caught some great jazz there on Sunday night. Terrific musicians, who dropped by and joined in. So much fun!
Tuesday was back to reality, and back to Brightwater, where the delivery guys are trying their best to inundate me with fall shipments! The boxes are piled high and I’m working my tail off to get the newness out onto the racks! The shop looks great, and Brightwater is ready for these cooler days! Cozy cashmere sweaters from Kinross, Kokun, and White + Warren. Beautiful flannels from Hartford, Gitman Vintage, and Billy Reid. Plus there is a great big selection of the soft and warm Faherty Legend Sweatershirts, and a beautiful collection of mens and womens Parajumpers. Oh, and 5 boxes of Bogner, which will be today’s project!
It’s looking like Saturday is going to be rainy and blustery. That will make it a perfect day to swing by Brightwater and peruse the fall collection! Besides, it would be great to see you and catch up a bit. I’ll hopefully have all the new shipments under control! I'll be looking forward to seeing you!
