Spring has sprung at Brightwater!

January Greetings, Klondike Race Update, Market Season & Warm Weather

Hi All,

Happy soggy January! I’m getting tired of fog and high 30°F temps. Damn it, this is January in Minnesota! It’s forecasted to get over 50°F next week! I guess I just need to focus on the positive. I haven’t had to shovel snow or dig out my snow boots. Yet anyway. I keep thinking to myself that this is MN, and it's likely that we will get the snow… It’ll just show up in April and May!

I am grateful that the local ski areas have been able to make enough snow to be open. I’m having fun racing twice a week with the Ski Challenge down at Buck Hill. I laugh that after 15 years of racing, I’m not getting any faster! But I am having a great time doing it! I race on Wednesdays and Sundays. Luckily it’s a team format, so even though I often think I have too much going on to be taking the time to ski, being on a team gives me a sense of duty, and once I’m there, I always have a blast! If you ever want to know more about the league, feel free to reach out to me. Their website skichallenge.com is terrific.

As February quickly approaches, it brings market season with it. Next week is the start of it with The Chicago Collective Men’s Market. It’s always great to get there and get going on selections for next fall's collection! It’s great to see old friends and search for new lines of clothing. I’m feeling like I need to find a few great new additions to Brightwater’s offerings. I’ll definitely keep you posted when I return. After Chicago, we’re home for a week, and then off to the Women’s markets in NYC. It’s a busy month, but the search for Brightwater’s newest threads energizes me! As you know by now, there will be great dinners with friends, plus new restaurants to discover. I’ll be sure to keep you updated!

As most of you know, we had to cancel the Klondike Dog Derby this year. Mother Nature really made the decision for us. We’ve shifted gears and are focused on 2025’s race. We’re keeping the fire burning by hosting the Klondike Dog Derby Cutest Puppy Contest on what would have been Race Day, February 3rd at Excelsior Brewing. The contest goes from 1-5pm, and we’ll have a full complement of new Klondike Merchandise available. Please swing by! It’s a great event and you can help support the Klondike too!

Meanwhile, back at Brightwater, I’ve moved our Clearance Sale to deeper discounts on much of the winter clothing, sweaters, and outerwear! Racks and tables of items are marked 50-80% off, plus 40% off all remaining Parajumpers jackets, parkas and vests. A good selection of Faherty Legend Sweater Shirts is marked at 1/2 price, too. You know the Brightwater quality. Here’s a great chance to save a bundle and look great. I’ll be around this weekend so stop by and say hi!

I’m thinking tonight will be perfect for making a big pot of soup. Warm and comforting in this soggy, foggy January. Let’s make an extra effort to be kind and compassionate, and make time for yourself. We’re all so very lucky, and I’m so grateful for all of you.

Lots of love,
- Bill
