Spring has sprung at Brightwater!

Buy Local or Bye Local

How are you? If you’re like me, you don’t mind the chilly morning’s walk to get a coffee, and the check on the outside temperature. It’s invigorating to see the -15°F and colder temps. At least I think so!

I’ve been checking on the house up north, too. On February 11th at 7:55AM, it was -33°F. THAT is cold! Glad the furnace is good, and the neighbors check on it regularly.

I feel fortunate that it was warmer a week before when we were up there. We went up Saturday the 30th so that I could get an early start on Sunday morning, as I volunteered to help with the John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon. It is a different type of race than The Klondike Dog Derby. There are 40, 120 and 300 mile classes that race through the woods of the arrowhead of Minnesota, from Duluth to Grand Portage. They didn’t allow spectators at all this year, due to COVID. There were a number of us from the Klondike Dog Derby Board of Directors that have helped out the past few years. It felt good to help the Beargrease again this year, but it made me realize how much I missed the Klondike (We’re hard at it planning for 2022!).

While we were moving from one checkpoint to another, we stopped for a bite in Two Harbors, and I happened to pick up a Star Tribune. I was surprised and pleased to see an article that I had been interviewed for on the front page of the Business section! I’m grateful to John Ewold of the StarTribune for making this happen. It was an article about how retailers across the Twin Cities environs survived the Holiday Season of 2020, with COVID playing such a pivotal role. I was fortunate that all of you stepped up to make my 4th quarter pretty incredible, and my year up overall. Yet, many other retailers didn’t feel that joy.  Here’s the article if you care to read it. I’m very grateful for all of your support at Brightwater and grateful for the Star Tribune article!

So… back to the shop. It’s getting down near the end of my Winter Clearance sale. There still is a great selection of Brightwater merchandise marked down up to 50% off! Luckily, I was able to work with Parajumpers, to secure an additional selection of parkas for men and women that are on sale too! I’m pretty excited about that! So if you’re out and about this weekend, please swing by and say, “hi,” take a moment to look through our winter collection, now priced to move. If nothing else, I’d love to chat!

Please keep your eyes open for Brightwater emails as we'll be announcing the first of the Spring ’21 Collection hitting the shop very soon. It’s still freezing out, but we can begin to dream of warmer, sunnier days ahead.

Until next time, stay safe. Mask up. Wash your hands, and be kind.

Happy Valentine’s Day, a little early, too!

My best,
- Bill
